Question: “What is the difference between ‘green’, ‘eco-friendly’ and ‘organic’? What are some great products in these categories that are also budget friendly?”

Answer: Since we are the only skin care company in the world that is a USDA Certified Organic Grower, I do have experience with your organic questions. To answer your first question, the words, “green and Eco-friendly” don’t really mean anything. The word organic only means something if it is attached to being USDA certified organic. We not only grow many of our ingredients and have the USDA certified organic farm, but we getting our lab USDA certified organic and our first product certified organic. This includes about 100-200 hours of time, just to deal with the forms, the audits and the inspections. This time has nothing to do with the actual growing or farming!

An even more important question though, would be, “Does the product have any synthetic chemicals?” The second most important one would be “who makes your products?” The third, “where.” If the company does not make their own products, you have got to wonder what exact business they are in? If the company does not make its own products or uses any synthetic chemicals, how could it be green?

In addition, does the company use recyclable glass? One of my greatest pet peeves, does the company use fancy boxes for their products that just end up in the landfill 10 minutes after the consumer buys the product?

Being a U.S.D.A grower can cost upwards to $100,000’s of dollars a year, you have to have a farm to begin with, you have be highly educated just to fill out the forms, you work the farm, the list is endless, this doesn’t even touch upon workman’s comp, liability ins. employees, manufacturing equipment. Yes, truly organic is going to cost more than someone just picking up the phone and calling a private label er and asking them to make some of the same old synthetic chemical stuff with some lavender added and calling it green.
