After over 30 years, we decided that we needed to make a very bold move, and go in a direction no other skin care company has gone before, if we were going to be able to thrive. In our old fashioned pros and cons list, we came up with 153 reasons to create an event space and not one reason not to do it.

One of the top reasons – to engage with our customers and to have them engage with agriculture. Instead of just talking about it in Whole Foods or Natural Grocers, come out and visit our plants, watch us handcraft them fresh and tell us about their skin care needs. As a born contrarian, I want to create a high touch, high value experience for people. We know we have a highly educated and sophisticated customer, who is interested way beyond the facades of advertising. We want to be an agri-tourist destination, and invite other local organic products to be produced on our property as well.

The ability to hold events is key to our plan, we can have yoga retreats, herb walks, DYI classes, tai chi, meditation, and create our own programs. My favorite is Girlfriends Day, every Wednesday between 2 and 4 pm. Pack your car with all your girlfriends come up to Keenesburg for a free facial. We will have a skin care expert present who owns a spa or salon to assist, promoting their business with ours. We would compliment the free facials with other possibilities, a local women’s networking, or free yoga instruction.

We look forward to hosting weddings. What good energy that will create and along with the fabulous Wild Animal Sanctuary across the street! We will be able to provide the optimal working farm experience, complete with photo ops on 1953 John Deere tractors. It will provide needed income for a very large mortgage, but it will also get our name out to a Millennial crowd, that I am thinking will fall in love with farm experiences.

The 80 acres will provide us with enough ground to do whatever we want for future growth, pick your own pumpkins, and green chilies, acres of lavender fields, the possibilities are endless. We planted some hemp this year, to try it out, to be able to grow our own hemp to produce or hemp oil or we may do sunflowers and extrude the oil.

At the core, it is about creating partnerships, interacting with our customers, engaging in agriculture, preserving land for future generations, introducing kids to growing plants, building dreams, freedom and independence, and most of all, having a really great time!! I feel like I am building the American dream, mine anyway, and it feels so good!!

Watch our progress here.

See you all at Lily Farm Fresh Event Center soon.
