Q: Lily, we left off with you stating that you found out that there was no difference in the $35 products and the $3 products, in terms of, clearing up your acne. In addition, you stated that neither one contained ingredients that by chemical definition would work, is that correct? How old were you, when you made that discovery?

A: Yes, that is correct and I was 13 years old.

Q: That seems a little young to be doing that kind of intense research, what made you go to all that work?

A: Desperation and determination. I was going to find something that would clear up my acne.

Q: It was a lucky break your Dad had those chemical dictionaries, why would he have them?

A: My Dad was a 6th generation American Apple grower, and probably the only one out of all of us, I am a 7th generation grower, who believed in pesticides. He sold farm chemicals. The pharmaceutical companies, the pesticide companies and the American Medical Association all grew up together, starting in about the 1940s. His generation was on the cutting edge, of their time, for synthetic chemicals and all their wonder. By my generation, we were already completely dismayed with synthetic chemicals.

It was the 1970s and the internet was not even an idea, yet, so the good news is I had access to those books.

Q: What did you do then?

A: I still tried many more products, still with no results. Years went by and I suffered. I started learning and reading more and more about the skin, natural skin care remedies, and overall health. I began making my own applesauce masks, fresh tomato peels, homemade toners. After years of trial and error, I came up with my first reproducible product.
