It felt so good to have my hands in the Earth, planting those little baby trees, some not much bigger than a pencil! It reminds me of the time my brothers and I planted, what seemed like, thousands, of apple trees for my Dad. He had us in an assembly line, plopping those puppies in.

I feel so lucky to be a farmer. I ran as far away from the farm as I could when I was young! (My Dad was really not that fun of a guy. and Thought us kids were just cheap farm hands, and back then, I really thought I had better things to do!) Now, that I am a geezer, I can’t think of anything that much more important.

Even when I tire of all the hard work, I am still so thankful to be able to live on a farm. All that ground surrounding you!
